The influence of the internet on daily life...

The Media as a whole has a large effect on everyday life.

As we know the Media is everywhere; TV, internet, magazines, radio etc, and they is no way to avoid it. This has made it a lot easier for us to be influenced and for us to be able to influence others.

One major part of the media industry is the internet. It is used daily and it pretty much gets used by every one of all ages.

Anything can be found on the Internet and as it is so simple to use there is no way to hide it even if we wanted to.

There is a 100% chance that at some point the Internet will influence you. We may not think about it but even looking at films reviews is helping you do decided whether or not you want to see it; also things like looking for cars for example, all the checking of details can be found somewhere on the Internet, therefore you don’t even have to leave your house before you need to pick it up.

Everyone has a lot to say and a lot of people like to use the Internet to tell us what they are thinking. Home made websites, chat sites, blogs and networking sites such as Facebook, Bebo and Myspace are all created by the public therefore everything that is on them is what they want us to know. Networking sites are possibly some of the most influential sites as they are the most visited and used by all ages; this means everything from music to sport is on them and we get the chance to read about them.

Although this may be a good thing, at times there are things we may not want children to see, and as children are easily influenced, straight away the Internet in some respects is to into something negative.

When we were first asked to do the blog, I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was. Not only have I found it a lot easier to create I have also had the chance to look and find out more about other blogs. I didn’t realise there was so many, but I think our group blog is something different.

I think that the blog was a good idea, and it is something I think should be kept with for others years; as the Internet keeps on evolving so will the blogs.

BABY P

At long last justice has been severed to baby P's mother and step father; but i have to say their sentences are not long enought at all!
The mother has been sentenced for her part in her son's death, the judge gave her an imediate sentence wiht a minimun term of ONLY 5 years; but to make things worse she could be freed in just over 3!
To hear this, shocked me. Although she may not have been the one to inflict the terrible injuries, she was the one who just sat back and let someone do those awful things to her own son and then even tried to help cover up the injuries.
There is no excuse for her and what she did at all. No matter how sorry she is, i dont think anyone will ever forgive or forget what she has done. She was the one who had the duty of care for her son therefore if she was 'so sorry' about it why did she let it happen i the first place?

Both herself and the step father should get a life sentence for taking a 17 month old baby's life away.

The case continues...

Its now been 2 years since Madeleine McCann mysteriously went missing, and the case still continues.
Since the first day that the 4 year girl went missing everyone in the whole world has been trying to help with finding her; but still no look and no clues weather she is dead or alive?

But when i was reading a newspaper on Sunday, the Madeleine McCann story has hit the head lines once again.
It turns out that just recently witnesses have came forward to tell of suspicious behaviour at villa just half a mile from where Madeleine was taken. Police and detectives searched the villa where they found children's toys and photographs of children on the walls of a secret room inside it.

They are now looking further into this by questioning Raymond Hewlett a 64- year-old convicted paedophile, as they think he could have something to do with the abduction case and has now been made a prime suspect. Also police will be asking him, weather he knew or ever met any paedophiles in the Algarve town of Praia da Luz around the time Madeleine vanished.

One theory the investigators have is whether there was a paedophile ring operating in the area two years ago; if so this could be the lead they have been waiting for.

Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick was born on July 26^th 1928, and died March 7^th 1999.

Over his lifetime Stanley Kubrick had directed and produced many films of which became very popular in the 20^th century and most of them winning Oscars.

In the late 1950’s Kubrick was introduced to a producer named James B. Harris, they became good friends and their business partnership funded Kubrick’s next 3 films.

His first film with a professional crew was “The killing”. Although this film was unusual to see in 1950’s cinema with its use of none-linear time, it was his first successful film.

Because of “The Killing” Harris-Kubrick productions where noticed by MGM which then gave them copyrighted stories to choose from for their next projects.

The great success of Kubrick’s life, lead to him making even more films, which starred the most famous actors and actresses around at the time.

One of Stanley Kubrick’s most famous films was 2001: a space odyssey. He spent 5 years on this film and it showed in its quality, it became a classic film due to its cultural impact and it groundbreaking special effects.

When asked about the meaning on the film, Kubrick replied, “ They are areas I prefer not to discuss, because they are highly subjective and will differ from viewer to viewer. In this sense, the film becomes anything the viewer sees in it.”

I choose to do Stanley Kubrick, as I like a lot of the films he has directed. He became such a successful person and left an impact in the world of film because of what he had achieved.

My time at CCAD

As the end of term is coming to an end, i thought i would let you in on a few of my thoughts about my time ending at CCAD.

Its weird to think that we have been her for two years already; you never believe it when people say to you,' your last year will fly by...' - but i have to say it really is true!

There's only about 4 weeks till we break up, although i am excited to move to Leeds and start my new course (BA Hons Television Production) at Leeds Trinity university; its actually starting to hit me that it IS going to happen.... and I'm going to be living in a house with total strangers for a year!?!

I have really enjoyed my time at CCAD, and i know i made to right choice coming to this college as i have learnt a lot and it has help me to make decisions about my future.
I have made some good friends here and had a lot of fun times; so i can say i will be quite sad to leave and i will miss everyone.

Linking to my last post, i think this next story is really great and amazing in how things have progressed so much over the years its hard to believe.

This is the story of Connie from the US, who has had the first face transplant in America, after being shot in the face by here husband, 5 years ago.
the blast shattered her roof of her mouth, her nose, cheeks and eye. she also need a tube in her next to breath; just hearing this part of her trauma i believe she is more that lucky. and after surviving a 22 hour operation where 80% of her face was replaced with new bone, muscles and nerves donated from another woman who had just died.

Because of this life changing operation, Connie can now talk, smell, eat, drink and taste again.
Although she will never be the same again, the operation has gave her a lot of her confidence back; in a recent interview she said; " i just hope now, that i can walk back on the streets again without being called names"

I did want to place a couple of pictures up here, to show you, if you haven't saw already, the dramatic change to Connie's face.

Overall i am amazed by this, and how Connie has got through this. i know its been 5 years since she was shot but something like that is unforgettable.

Local News

As i haven't posted anything too recently, i thought it would be good to update you with some of the latest general news... so here you go.

I was looking thought out local newspaper this evening (The Evening Gazzette), and came across this article about gun crime; and how police are looking for a gunman who attachted a woman and children in Guisbrough.

Its one thing to hear about gun crime rising in the UK alone, but to know that incidents in volving guns, are happening around just 8 miles away...in my opinion its a pretty scary thought!

Police continue hunt for gunman

THE hunt continues today for the gunman who opened fire on a house in East Cleveland.

Detectives have renewed their appeal for information about the “targeted attack” on the home in Allison Street, Guisborough.

Witnesses recalled seeing a woman fleeing the end-terrace, clutching a child in her arms.

An armed response unit was called at about 7.45pm on Monday after reports of shots fired from the door into the house.

Nobody was injured.

The incident is not believed to be linked to a double-shooting in Stanley, County Durham on the same day.
